The ARRAYS project, Advanced European RF Components for Wideband Array- Type Radar, Electronic Warfare and Communication Systems, has officially launched with the objective of strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty in advanced radio frequency (RF) components.
The project addresses the critical need within Europe for commercially available, high-performance RF transmit/receive chain components, which are essential for next-generation radar, electronic warfare, and communication systems. By closing existing supply chain gaps, ARRAYS aims to enable European system houses to develop competitive, all-European solutions for use in modern and future battlefields.

ARRAYS adopts a holistic approach, focusing on the design, packaging, and availability of advanced RF components tailored for wideband array-type systems. This approach is intended to pave the way for the development of fully European array solutions, reducing reliance on non-European suppliers while enhancing performance, resilience, and long-term availability.
The project was officially launched during a kick-off meeting held in Vilnius on 21–22 January 2026, hosted by the project coordinator Baltic Institute of Advanced Technology (BPTI). During the event, the ARRAYS consortium presented its shared vision for the development of advanced, high-reliability RF building blocks designed to support next-generation European radar, electronic warfare, and communication platforms.
The ARRAYS consortium brings together European organisations with expertise across research, component development, and system-level integration:
/ Baltic Institute of Advanced Technology (BPTI) – Lithuania (Project Coordinator)
/ Commissariat à l’Énergie Atomique et aux Énergies Alternatives (CEA Leti) – France
/ XYSensing Sp. z o.o. – Poland
/ INDRA Sistemas S. A. – Spain (Subcontractor)
Through close collaboration, the consortium aims to deliver innovative RF component solutions that will reinforce Europe’s industrial base and support the development of advanced defence and security systems.
BPTI’s role
Within this project, BPTI acts as the project coordinator and is responsible for all project management and major technical activities. BPTI will mainly focus on the ultra-wideband RF component and transmit-receive module design for the ARRAYS solution.
CEA Leti’s role
CEA Leti is responsible of advanced packaging and will be involved on ultra-wideband Antenna and RF component design.
XYSensing’s role
XYSensing is responsible for integrating the ARRAYS transmit-receive modules into a radar platform and showcasing the novel capabilities.
INDRA’s role
INDRA Sistemas S.A. as a system house provides an end user-oriented opinion, advising on design activities to closely address the future military needs.
The ARRAYS project is funded by the European Union under the European Defence Fund (EDF) 2024 call.
